AA Chavan, MN Sawant, R Kumar, AK Bhanotra and SB Sarwade

India possesses a rich heritage of indigenous medicinal plants that have been used for treating animals since ancient times. However, these traditional practices are mostly unrecorded and are transmitted orally from one generation to another. Traditional healers regarding goat farming are the old age person who had indigenous technical knowledge about the goat disease. The present study was conducted in tribal regions from Thane, Palghar and Raigad district of Maharashtra state. From each district, 10 traditional healers were selected purposively who practiced ITKs regarding goat farming. ITKs followed for productive, curative and preventive conditions for goat farming by traditional healers were documented. Around 59 different ITKs were documented through direct observation, transect walk and focus group discussion.
