Examine the status of Gothan and Godhan Nyay Yojna in Chhattisgarh

The study aims to impact of gouthan and godhan nyay yojna Godhan Nyay Yojana in Chhattisgarh India. This scheme aims at boosting the rural economy by procuring cow dung at Rs 2 per kilogram from farmers and cattle rearers initially in the rural area later in the urban area too. The procuring of cow dung would be done at the Gouthan, the cowshed built at village panchayat level. After procuring the cow dung, the government would get the procured cow dung turned into vermicompost by Women Self-Help Group (WSHG) and later the organic manure would be sold to the farmer at ? 10 per kilogram, encouraging organic fertilizer and discouraging chemical one. The result of the study shows that out of total approved Gothans about 94.27 per cent Gothans were fully constructed and In Bilaspur Division there were maximum numbers (2231 Gothans) of Gothans. Maximum quantity (3003071 quintal) of cow dung were purchased under Durg Division and Maximum numbers of SHGs were in Mahasamund District; 1060 SHGs. In Khairagarh-Chhuhikhadan-Gandai District, there were highest 91.71 percent of sales of vermicompost.
