Banana fiber: A sustainable revolution in fashion and textiles
Jyoti Singh and Dr. Suman Pant
The fashion industry is beginning to recognize the potential of banana fiber. Several prominent fashion houses and designers are planning to employ banana fibers in forthcoming collections. The biodegradability and low environmental impact of this fiber make it ideal. The fiber from the banana plant has been used to make high-quality textiles for a very long time. Banana fiber textiles are eco-friendly garments with market potential for boosting rural employment opportunities. In order to survive in this world, humans need basic necessities such as clothing and furniture. However, the synthetic fibers used in most modern clothing and home furnishings contribute to air pollution, have an adverse effect on ecosystems, and so on. As an alternative to synthetic fibers that are harmful to the environment, natural fibers are making a comeback. Mandana Art is one kind of traditional artwork that is put to use in the reimagining of Mandana motifs via painting on women's clothes and highlighted through Kantha Work, a form of traditional embroidery. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that banana fiber apparel has a high manufacturing value and is thus simple to manufacture and sell in the retail market. By putting it to good use, we can reduce our reliance on virgin resources like agricultural fibers and synthetic, petroleum-based substitutes.
