abstract
The study investigated the constraints faced by Village Agriculture Assistants of Rythu Bharosa Kendras in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Ex-post facto research design was adopted in this study. A total of 90 respondents were randomly selected and the data were collected by conducting personal interview of each of the respondent with the help of structured interview schedule. Careful analysis, tabulation and classification of the data were done. The major constraint faced by VAAs in performing their job were ‘lack of storage facilities in villages’ (rank I) followed by ‘difficulties in distribution of inputs’ (rank II), ‘non-availability of residential quarters’ (rank III), ‘lack of conveyance for mobility’ (rank IV), ‘lack of promotional opportunities’ (rank V), ‘non-cooperation of farmers’ (rank VI), ‘political interference in the work’ (rank VII), ‘untimely supply of scheme inputs’ (rank VIII) and ‘lack of necessary facilities in villages for discharge of duties’ (rank IX). Among all the suggestions expressed by Village Agriculture Assistants to overcome the constraints faced by them, the major suggestion was ‘provision of storage facility in village’ (rank I) followed by ‘provision of CCE kits and other basic equipment’ (rank II), ‘timely supply of scheme inputs’ (rank III), ‘proper timeline for job activities’ (rank IV) and ‘provision of transport for mobility’ (rank V).
