This study explores the constraints faced by beneficiaries in participating in the PM-KISAN Scheme and provides suggestions for enhancing the scheme's effectiveness. A sample of 320 respondents was surveyed to understand the challenges and propose improvements. The study reveals that the primary constraints include lack of knowledge about the banking system, eKYC process, and registration procedures, with a high rank for the complexity of the online application process. Respondents suggested the need for accessible banking education, simplified registration processes, and improved communication among farmers. Statistical analysis showed that demographic variables such as age, education, and annual income had varying correlations with both constraints and suggestions. Key recommendations include promoting digital literacy, enhancing transportation infrastructure, and establishing dedicated support systems in rural areas to streamline the PM-KISAN Scheme's implementation. These findings aim to inform policymakers and stakeholders in improving the scheme’s reach and impact among farmers.
Methods: This study employs a descriptive research design with a survey method to gather data from 320 beneficiaries of the PM-KISAN Scheme. A structured questionnaire was used to collect information on constraints faced by farmers and their suggestions for improving the scheme. Data were analyzed using mean percentage score (MPS) to rank the perceived constraints and suggestions.
Additionally, correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between respondents' demographic variables (such as age, education, income) and their perceptions of constraints and suggestions. Statistical tools were used to interpret the data and draw meaningful conclusions about the challenges and possible improvements in the PM-KISAN Scheme.
Results: The study reveals several key constraints faced by beneficiaries in participating in the PM-KISAN Scheme. The most significant challenges include lack of knowledge about the banking system (ranked 1st), eKYC (ranked 3rd), and the complexity of the online application process (ranked 2nd). Other notable constraints include registration difficulties, poor transportation, and communication issues in rural areas.
In terms of suggestions, the highest-ranked recommendation was simplifying the online application process (ranked 1st), followed by educating beneficiaries on the eKYC process (ranked 2nd) and increasing awareness about the scheme's benefits (ranked 3rd). Respondents also suggested improving rural infrastructure, enhancing communication among farmers, and providing targeted support for widowed women.
Correlation analysis showed that certain demographic factors, such as age and annual income, were positively correlated with the constraints and suggestions, indicating their influence on the perception of the scheme’s challenges and potential improvements
