Raghavendra Chourad, Devendra Beeraladinni, Sidram BY, Amrutha Joshi and Jagrati B Deshmanya

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing a transformative role in modern agriculture, helping farmers optimize resources, increase crop yields, and improve sustainability. By integrating AI-driven technologies such as machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and big data analytics, precision farming has become more efficient, reducing waste and improving decision-making. AI enables real-time crop monitoring, soil health analysis, automated pest and disease detection, and predictive weather forecasting, allowing farmers to take proactive measures to protect their crops. Autonomous machinery, including AI-powered tractors and drones, is reducing labor costs while enhancing efficiency in planting, irrigation, and harvesting. Additionally, AI is streamlining agricultural supply chains, optimizing market access, and assisting in financial planning through predictive models for yield estimation, pricing trends, and crop insurance management. AI-driven smart irrigation systems are also helping conserve water and adapt to climate change challenges. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, lack of technical knowledge, and data privacy concerns remain significant barriers to widespread adoption. Despite these challenges, AI has the potential to revolutionize global agriculture, making farming more sustainable, resilient, and productive. This article explores the various applications, benefits, challenges, and future prospects of AI in supporting the farming community and ensuring food security.
