Awareness about agricultural applications by the farmers of Banaskantha district

The study was conducted in Deesa, Vadgam and
Dantiwada talukas of Banaskantha district. Five villages from each taluka were
selected randomly. For selection of the farmers from each village, twenty
android mobile phone holder farmers were selected randomly, thus a sample of
total 300 respondents was selected for the study.
From the study it can be observed that most of the
respondents were middle aged group (82.00%) followed by young age, had higher
secondary level of education (41.33%), low to medium level of farming
experience (57.67%) and innovative proneness (65.00%), had small size of land
holding (49.00%), medium to high level of mass media exposure (78.00%) and
economic motivation. Most of the respondents were aware about how to download
mobile application (66.00%), use of applications in plant protection measures,
for getting information about current market price, but very few of the
respondents (4.33%) were aware about the mobile applications which can be
useful for controlling farm machinery from remote locations and the consent of
user before starting the application. Among the seven independent variables
three variables like mass media exposure, economic motivation and innovative
proneness were highly and significantly correlated with awareness of the
farmers about agricultural applications.
