Namrataa Mamgai, CK Singh and Renu

Young adulthood is a critical development phase where individuals actively explore their identities and seek pathways for happiness and wellbeing. During this stage, young adults prioritize self-discovery and autonomy while balancing academic, social and personal development. This study investigates how extracurricular activities and peer relationships shape young adults’ happiness offering insights on their role in fostering holistic wellbeing. Using purposive sampling the study surveyed 240 undergraduates (aged 18 to 21) from two universities in Haryana and Uttarakhand, selected for their diverse cultural and academic environment. Statistical analyses including chi square test, correlations tests and one way ANOVA revealed that higher extracurricular involvement and supportive peer environments enhanced young adults’ happiness. These findings highlight the need for integration of structured extracurricular frameworks and fostering supportive peer environments within educational policies to enhance personal development among young adults.
