Extent of adoption of precision farming technologies by horticulture crop growers in eastern dry zone of Karnataka

The study was conducted in Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts of Eastern Dry Zone of Karnataka state. The data was collected by personal interview method with the help of the structured interview schedule. With respect to technology wise extent of adoption of precision farming technologies, Cent percent of the tomato growers had fully adopted the technologies like age of the seedlings, recommended varieties, mulching, method of irrigation (drip irrigation). Whereas, cent percent of the growers have not adopted components of precision farming technologies like assessing variability, laser land leveling and variable rate technology. In case of capsicum growers, cent percent of them fully adopted recommended varieties, mulching, method of irrigation (drip irrigation). Whereas, cent percent of the growers have not adopted components of precision farming technologies like assessing variability, laser land leveling, variable rate technology, global positioning system, global information system and soil mapping. With respect to rose growers, cent percent of them fully adopted recommended varieties and method of irrigation (drip irrigation), and not adopted components of precision farming technologies like assessing variability, laser land leveling, soil mapping, variable rate technology, global positioning system, global information system, respectively. Regarding overall horticulture crop growers, more than two-fifth (44.17%) of the horticulture crop growers belonged to medium adoption category followed by high adoption (28.33%) and low adoption (27.50%) category, respectively.
