The production and marketing of minor millets, such as finger millet, foxtail millet, little millet, and kodo millet, face several challenges despite their nutritional benefits and resilience to harsh environments. In production, these challenges include limited research and development, reliance on traditional farming practices, climate sensitivity, poor seed quality, and inadequate extension services, all of which result in low yields and profitability. In marketing, issues such as limited market access, poor infrastructure, low consumer awareness, price fluctuations, and a lack of value addition further hinder the potential of these crops. To address these problems, the study aims at enhancing research and development, promoting mechanization, improving seed quality, strengthening agricultural extension services, developing market linkages, raising consumer awareness, improving infrastructure, encouraging value addition, and implementing price stabilization mechanisms. Coordinated efforts across various sectors are essential to realize the full potential of minor millets in contributing to sustainable agriculture and food security.
