Application of discriminant function in export-import analysis of coconut and its products excluding coir by using SPSS software

RS Jachak, PB Bansode, ST Yashwanth, MH Tharkar and PR Kolhe

The goal of the current study is to develop the coconut market trend in India using export-import data. To ascertain the market trend, the discriminant function analysis (DFA) method has been employed by using the SPSS software in the analysis. Export value, per cent variation over previous year of export, import value and per cent variation over previous year of import are the four variables on which export and import secondary data from year 2009-10 to 2022-23 obtained from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics have been used in this study. Based on a number of criteria, the results show that the market trend for coconut and its products aside from coir has important consequences. Policy makers and other stakeholders may find the study's conclusions useful in making judgments about how best to set up arrangements for trade, distribution, storage and procurement in both domestic and foreign markets.
